St. Mary'S Shrine, Bazpur

About Us

In 1929, Fr. Peter Mary Ofm. Cap., was invited to Bazpur by a Methodist. A new mission at Bazpur was opened in 1929 which was named as Mariampur. Later on, 129 acres of land was acquired and the present Priest’s house was built on that in 1939. On 8th December 1958, the late Bishop Conrad de Vito had the joy of blessing the first Church built in his Diocese (Lucknow) and dedicated it to our Lady.

Our Patroness

St. Mary Mother of God or the Virgin Mary is believed by many to be the greatest of all Christian saints. The Virgin Mother "was, after her Son, exalted by divine grace above all angels and men." Mary is venerated with a special cult, called by St. Thomas Aquinas, hyperdulia, as the holiest of all creatures. The main events of her life are celebrated as liturgical feasts of the universal Church.
